"Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." — Matthew 20:28 (KJV)
Hello Friend,
I pray you are well and walking in His grace today! I want to share something that has been on my heart — the beautiful, humbling example Christ set for each of us in selfless service.
He Came to Serve
In a world that celebrates status and recognition, Jesus turned everything upside down. He washed feet. He touched lepers. He stopped for the one when the crowd pressed in. He gave everything — not for those who deserved it, but for those who needed it. That is the standard He set for us, and it is the standard we strive to follow at Kinsman & Company every single day.
My husband has been a pastor for many years, and I have watched him model this kind of servant leadership quietly and faithfully — in the pulpit, in the hospital room, at the graveside, and around our kitchen table. There is no greater calling than to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ.
The Mind of Christ
As followers of Christ, we are called not only to serve but to have the mind of Christ — a heart that seeks to love and serve others with selflessness and humility. Philippians 2:5 (KJV) calls us to let this mind be in us:
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."
The heart of a servant is one that looks beyond its own interests and desires to the needs of others. Jesus, in His perfect humility, showed us the way. He did not come to be served, but to serve. And He calls us to do the same, not for our own glory, but for the glory of God.
Service in Our Own Home
Selfless service does not always look like a mission trip or a church program. Sometimes it looks like getting up early to make breakfast for your family. Sometimes it looks like sitting with a grieving friend. Sometimes it looks like writing a note of encouragement to someone who feels forgotten.
"And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant." — Matthew 20:27 (KJV)
Our nine grandchildren are watching us. They are learning what it means to love God and love others by watching how we live. That is a sacred responsibility — and a joyful one!
Practical Ways to Serve Like Christ This Week
Serving like Christ doesn't require grand gestures. Often, the most meaningful acts of service happen in quiet, everyday moments. Here are some practical ways to put Christ's example into action:
- Write an encouraging note — A handwritten card with a KJV scripture verse can lift someone's spirit more than you know. Proverbs 16:24 (KJV) says: "Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones."
- Pray for someone by name — Interceding for others is one of the purest forms of service.
- Give your time — Visit someone who is lonely, help a neighbor, or volunteer at your church.
- Share God's Word — Gift a devotional journal or scripture gift to someone who needs encouragement.
How Kinsman & Company Serves
When I started Kinsman & Company, service was at the heart of it. I wanted to create beautiful King James Scripture products that would help women of faith carry God's Word with them — into their quiet times, their church services, their gift-giving, and their daily lives. A portion of every purchase supports Worldwide Missions through faith promise giving at Liberty Baptist Church, because we believe that business can be ministry.
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." — Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
FAQ: Serving Others in the Spirit of Christ
Why is servant leadership important for Christians? Because Christ Himself modeled it. True leadership in God's kingdom is measured by how well we serve, not how much authority we hold.
What scriptures talk about serving others? Mark 10:45, Galatians 5:13, and 1 Peter 4:10 (KJV) all speak powerfully about Christian service.
How can I keep serving when I feel burned out? Return to the source — spend time in prayer and God's Word. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) promises: "They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength."
A Challenge for You
This week, find one small way to follow Christ's example of selfless service. Write a note. Make a meal. Pray for someone by name. Give a gift that points someone to God's Word. You may never know the impact of that one act of kindness — but God does.
Many Blessings,
Nina xoxo
